Purpose:

Improvement of the quality system and the development of INCDPM’s PPEs Testing Laboratory accredited as per the Certificate of Accreditation No. 341-L of 23/05/2005 so that to enable it to carry out type testing on those PPEs assortments meant to ensure insulation against thermal risks e.g. footwear, gaiters, uppers, components of the fall from heights stoppers, components of the protective clothing, rescue jackets, etc. They are made in accordance with the latest harmonized standards to be applied within the procedures of “EC type examination”, the EC quality control system of the final product by the Certification Body operating within the Institute.

Specific objective:

The development of the testing laboratory through the assimilation of new testing methods i.e. the purchase of high performance equipment in direct correlation with the European Directives’ provisions and the national transposed legislation.

The following objectives are had in view within the topics e.g.:

• purchasing of multi-functional equipment, updating of the existing ones so that to make possible the determination of the following characteristics:
  • Thermal insulation of the lower unit against the cold induced by convection up to -20 oC for the safety, protection and professional footwear,
  • Thermal insulation against the cold induced by convection up to -50 oC for other assortments of PPEs,
  • Heat transmission index by convection for gaiters and uppers, protection trousers.
• assimilation and implementation of the testing methods for the determination of the mentioned parameters as imposed through the harmonized standards associated with the European Directive 89/686/EEC. The presumption of conformity is to be applied to them during the EC type examination that shall be carried out previously the application of the EC marking and the putting of these equipment on the market,
• development of the services of conformity certification in the area regulated by the European Directives,
• accreditation of the tests performed in accordance with the harmonized European standards.
